Dubai Sports City is sure to become one of the most famous places in the world, with international events being broadcast to a world wide audience and facilities that will offer an unprecedented experience.

Dubai Sports City is an integral part of Dubai’s ambitions to become one of the world’s
top tourism destinations, in fact an aggressive target has been set to attract 15 million visitors by 2010.

Five sporting academies will ensure a constant stream of visitors to Sports City. The Manchester United Soccer School will be used to develop talented youngsters while the
ICC cricket facilities will be used as an academy as well as a preparation point for teams from New Zealand or Australia before commencing tours in England or the Sub-continent.

The International Hockey Federation is the latest sport governing body to choose Dubai Sports City as the location for its elite Academy. The hockey academy will be the first of
its kind in the world and demonstrates that Sports City is continuing to attract
international interest across all sports, in fact it has been reported that negotiations are continuing with FINA. FINA is the international governing body of swimming, diving, water polo, synchronized swimming and open water swimming. FINA has already announced that
Dubai will host the world swimming championships in 2010 and it seems likely they too
will set up an academy
Dubai Sports City will offer many facilities that complement the venues
and academies, including:

• Bradenton Academy School – a sports certified school

Sports City will also offer plenty to those who just want to relax – shopping, dining and entertainment venues will be available. Sports City will be home to a sports-themed
mall with a leasing capacity of approximately 1.2 million square feet.
The Central and Southern retail areas will also boast a multitude of boutiques, restaurants and cafes and convenience stores.
Family activities will also be catered for with many parks and playgrounds, a cinema and community centres for everyone.
